Zaretta Hammond's - Culturally Responsive Teaching Workshop

Zaretta Hammond's Culturally Responsive Teaching & The Brain Workshop

Zaretta Hammond
Friday, April 24, 2020 and Saturday, April 25, 2020

This 2-day workshop will help you with the long-term work of practicing culturally responsive teaching. You’ll learn how to create conditions that allow ALL students to thrive and embrace rigor — especially students who are under-performing.

Seats are limited, so participants must apply to attend.  Successful applicants will be notified by March 20.

Who Should Attend:
Administrators, Directors, Principals, Teacher Leaders, Coaches, Teachers, anyone responsible for coaching and leading training…who are committed to changing practices to ensure Culturally Responsive Teaching is embedded in their preschool or organization.  Please note this is NOT a train-the-trainer 2-day session.  This is intended to help people reflect on their own practices and begin to change their own interactions to better support students.

Requirements:
Participants must read “Culturally Responsive Teaching & The Brain" by Zaretta Hammond prior to attending the 2-day training (books will be provided to approved applicants) and must attend the entire training, both days and all day.

Preference will be given to registrants who:
1. Have already completed reading the book or are currently reading the book together as a team/organization.
2. Apply as a team, with at least 1 administrator and 2 staff members.
3. Participated in Equity Fellows initiative or culturally responsive teaching book studies.
4. Commit to a 2020-21 school year implementation schedule for lessons learned.

Join a Book Discussion Session:
We will be hosting a facilitated book discussion; you can choose either Thursday, March 12 or Tuesday, March 24 from 5:30-7:00 p.m.  Join us and others reading the "Culturally Responsive Teaching & The Brain" for an enjoyable evening of interactive conversation with refreshments.

Registration/Application Process:
Given the limited number of seats, applications will be accepted for this 2-day workshop, and applicants will be notified no later than March 20 with their approval status.  There will be a $200.00 NO SHOW fee for approved attendees that do not give prior notice.
