Our heartfelt thanks to the PNC Foundation for sponsoring Passport to Kindergarten through their Grow Up Great Initiative, which helps prepare children from birth to age five for success in school and life.
On September 24th our teachers, families, and external partners joined together for the Kickoff Carnival at Dayton Metro Library downtown. We all look forward to this annual tradition as children excitedly arrive to check in with their teachers, play with classmates, and complete activities with the program partners.
This year, 21 classrooms — encompassing nearly 275 children and their teachers — are participating in the program. The initiative focuses on dialogic reading in small groups, family engagement events centered on literacy, and classroom visits from external partners. These partners will also host events for participating families at their locations.We are grateful to our community partners, Muse Machine, Dayton Art Institute, Boonshoft Museum of Discovery, Five Rivers Metro Parks, and Dayton Metro Library, for continuing to support our combined efforts to support literacy for Montgomery County Children.
