They Don’t Have a Vote, But They Have You

The early childhood education system is underfunded in our country and in our state. One of Preschool Promise’s goals is to leverage all available federal and state funding to support as many children as possible across Montgomery County, while also continuing to advocate for increased investment. When we invest in early childhood education, everyone wins. When we fund early learning appropriately, so that every child, regardless of parent income or work status has access to high-quality early learning, we will prepare our future workforce with the skills they need.

In response to funding limitations, Dayton Public Schools is making changes to consolidate their preschool program for the 2026-2027 school year. Preschool Promise worked with Dayton Public Schools to suggest ways for them to maximize funding from the state and from Preschool Promise to continue to serve as many children as possible.

With the primaries behind us, we are looking ahead to the General Election in November. The Gubernatorial race will be a central focus. We are reminded that our youngest learners don’t have a vote, which means our votes have to count for Ohio’s kids. Policy and program decisions made at the state and federal levels this year will shape early childhood policy for a generation. Please understand how your candidates prioritize early learning and make your voice heard in the General Election.
