Data shows that, compared to their peers, Black boys are at the bottom of nearly every academic and social-emotional achievement measure.
These boys do not lack ability or talent. Implicit bias, low expectations, discriminatory policies and practices, and lack of Black teachers and role models combine to limit Black boys’ opportunities to succeed. Preschool is where young children get their first impressions of formal education. We need to use this time to inspire their curiosity and ignite a love of learning!
