The Ready to Read program allows Preschool Promise to partner with Omega CDC’s Promise Neighborhood Project in Northwest Dayton, in an area known as The Hope Zone. This initiative supports more than 20 teachers through a monthly training cohort that focuses on early literacy and the Science of Reading.

The cohort is led by Ms. Britney Leavelle and her team of coaches. They meet with teachers weekly to help them implement the strategies and practices introduced during the monthly sessions. These ongoing supports ensure that teachers have the tools they need to strengthen literacy instruction in their classrooms.
In addition to working directly with teachers, Ms. Leavelle coaches administrators participating in the Ready to Read program. Leaders from West Park Academy, On Purpose Academy, Mini University at the Hope Center for Families, and Fairview Elementary (Dayton Public Schools) collaborate with her to enhance instructional leadership. Together, they focus on key practices such as supervising curriculum implementation, conducting regular standards-based assessments, and holding staff accountable for ensuring the best outcomes for children.
Recently, Ms. Leavelle had the opportunity to partner with Mr. Yunus Brevick, Director of the Preschool Department for Dayton Public Schools. Their collaboration has strengthened the district’s early learning efforts by supporting teachers in effectively implementing the newly adopted Frog Street Curriculum.
