Child shares book with Power Panda

Little Read Literacy Nights

Hertia Mims, Family Connection Manager and the Ready to Read team welcomed more than 50 children from Fairview PK-6, On Purpose Academy, Dayton Christian and West Park Academy for a fun-filled night of learning. Children and their families read the Preschool Promise Book-of-the-Month, enjoyed themed activities based on the early literacy pillars of Talk, Read, Write, Sing and Play, and received a delicious meal to share at home. In February, we were thrilled to welcome Mayor Jeffery Mims as our Star Reader for Hooray, I See the Doctor Today! by Betty Nguyen, MD and Brandon Pham, MD. Mayor Mims and the families examined x-rays, bandaged Power Panda, sang songs and explored the Play Kit made possible by the generous support of Dayton Children’s Hospital.
