How do you show your legislators that the budget should reflect what matters to Ohio families? You charter a bus and take 50 advocates to join in Groundwork Ohio’s Working Families Rally.

Governor DeWine proposed pivotal measures to make child care more affordable for working families, including Ohio Child Tax Credit and increased investments in child care. While all of these changes were not included in the final budget signed by Governor DeWine earlier this week, we will build on what was included to support young children and their families.

Our voices matter! As Katie Gainey-West, GDAHA Regional Pathways shared, “what families need from Ohio legislators is support and better pay for child care workers. It’s important to invest in children as they are our future. Tif Huber, Director of Help Me Grow Brighter Futures, pointed out, “child care helps kids, which is fantastic, but it also helps families get to work and get to school which builds the economy and community that we can all be proud of.” Preschool Promise’s own Latoria Marcellus, Senior Director of Education Strategy asked an often forgotten question, “Are the Children well?" You can see Latoria’s video here.
