In October, the Administrators of the five sites selected to participate in the Therapeutic Child Care Grant came together for their first professional development cohort meeting.

Mother and child review The Very Hungry Catepillar

Facilitated by the Montgomery County Educational Service Center, participants received a copy of Dr. Bruce Perry’s book, “What Happened to You?” that he co-wrote with Oprah Winfrey. They began learning about Trauma-informed care for all students at their site and will meet monthly to discuss what they've read and how the lessons can be integrated into their site’s Tier One Services.

In addition to attending the cohort, our site administrators and our advisory council helped brand the pilot as the “Building Blocks for Success Pilot”. Our MTSS team and our Conscious Discipline Coach are now actively working in the classrooms at the five sites. The teachers in the pilot are excited and eager to learn new techniques they can use with their students.
